Compass answers from what your school publishes. So we test three things: whether Compass can read your site, whether its search finds the right page, and whether the family chat works for everyone.
1. We check that Compass can read your site
We look at your site the way Compass's crawler does. We read your robots.txt, your home page and your sitemap. Sign-up checks this before you pay. If Compass cannot read your pages, sign-up says what is wrong and how your web team can fix it.
2. We test search with questions from your own pages
We write test questions from the pages on your site. Each question has one page that answers it. Search has to find that page.
3. We check answers before launch
We ask the assistant parent-style questions on a preview link. We check each answer against the school's own pages. A school goes live after that review.
4. We scan for accessibility
We scan the family chat, sign-up and the school dashboard against WCAG 2.1 AA, on a desktop and on a phone-sized screen.
5. Your site stays current
Your site is crawled every day. When it changes, Compass reads the new pages.
Check it on your own website
Start sign-up with your website address. Compass reads your site and tells you what it found, and whether it can read your pages, before you pay anything.
